"A Ceia dos Cardeais" is a show based on Júlio Dantas' work. It has been translate in many languages and presented in several countries with great success.
In Madeira Island, "A Ceia dos Cardeais" was presented in "Teatro Municipal" (one of our theatre rooms in Funchal), Ponta do Sol, Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, and also in Porto da Cruz. It had a good affluence from the audience. Last week we took the show to Azores, to "Coliseu Micaelense".
The show lasts 45 minutes and the set is a dinner room in the Vatican. There are three Cardinals: one is French, other is Spanish and the last one is Portuguese and they all that meet and talk about their romances.
It is an amazing play represented by the following entities:
Professor Virgílio Pereira – former Mayor of Funchal and member of the Portuguese Republic and the European Parliament.
Mr. João Carlos Abreu – journalist, poet/writer, former Minister of Tourism and Culture in Madeira Island, and President of CRIAMAR.
Mr. José António Barros – actor and finalist of the communication course in Universidade da Madeira.
The play includes also two butlers and eight Vatican guards.
All profits made revert to CRIAMAR – Charity Association for discriminated children.
CRIAMAR is a charity association without any profitable ends. Our main goal is to provide assistance to discriminated children that live permanently in charity institutions.
These children provide mainly from disfunctional families. Others are orphans. CRIAMAR created a project called "A Cor Dos Dias" – The Color of the Days. The areas within it are Art, Drama, Literature, Music and Sports. Their finality is to help children being prepared to see the world that surrounds them from other perspectives, through culture.
This project includes over 190 children. We want to expand it but we need more supports. Until now, our only patron has been Mr. Dionísio Pestana.
The president of this charity association is Mr. João Carlos Abreu. He is also a writer and was, for 30 years, responsible for Tourism and Culture in Madeira Island.
